“Day 4. Trek to Mawenzi Tarn
Only a 3 to 4 hour walk today, crossing grassy slope swith expansive views. By the time we reach our next camping place at Mawenzi Tarn, which is spectacularly situated beneath the rocky multiple summits of Mawenzi, we have passed the upper limit of vegetation (other than grasses) on the mountain. The afternoon is free for exploring the area. Altitude at Mawenzi Tarn – 4300 m / 14,108ft. ”
Things don’t seem too hard yet. I’m at the highest elevation I’ve ever been to (I think). I’m sure I’m starting to feel the effects of a little bit less oxygen in the air, which is why we have so much time to rest and work at our own pace today.
